This study aims to highlight the role of Adapted physical education and sports in the development of academic achievement among mentally retarded children. It also aimed to reveal differences in academic achievement among practitioners and non-practitioners of this type of activity. In this study, the descriptive approach was used to address the subject, and the following results were reached: The practice of physical education and sports has an important role to contribute to the development of academic achievement, psychological readiness and tendencies to learn among students who are mentally retarded to a mild and moderate degree..
