Abstract

The purpose was to compare 2 tests for assessing the MAS: 80/20MAS test vs University of Montreal Track test (UMTT) in terms of MAS, heart rate (HR), and Lactatemia (LA). The results of 80/20MAS and UMTT realized in 72 hours apart were compared in 17 athletes. The mean values of MAS calculated for using 80/20MAS and UMTT were significantly different (18.7 km.h-1 ± 1.2, 17.3 km.h-1 ± 1.3, respectively), despite a strong correlation coefficient. No significant differences of HR and LA were found between the two Tests. The 80/20MAS that we propose allows obtaining an FCmax and LA comparable to a conventional test such as UMTT. However, the results underscore that 80/20MAS overestimates MAS.
