Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the effects of prolonged water and food restriction (Ramadan) on soft masses in young
U19 footballers. Twenty-nine junior soccer players, whose age is 18.38± 0.78, participated and were tested on 04 occasions: one
week before Ramadan (Av), the 2nd week of Ramadan (S2), the 4th week of Ramadan (S4) and 2 weeks after Ramadan (Ap).
For this purpose, we carried out anthropometric measurements. For descriptive statistics we calculated the mean and standard
deviation. For the analytical statistics we used the student t-test for matched groups. Thus, the observance of fasting during
Ramadan revealed that there was no disturbance of the body components despite the existence of slight variations. Fasting
under the conditions of the investigation did not seem to influence the different parameters studied
