Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the factor structure of the Social Communication Scale to determine the number of its latent factors. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted on a sample of 370 primary school students using principal axis factoring with oblique rotation. The results showed that the scale had a two-factor structure. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using the AMOS procedure, and the results confirmed that the two-factor structure of the scale was consistent with its theoretical basis. The fit index also showed high values according to the acceptance criteria. The study also showed good internal consistency coefficients using hierarchical alpha coefficients and split-half method and using convergent validity and internal consistency validity.
