Morphological profile of young Algerian swimmers (13-15 years old) according to swimming style
Keywords:
Swimming, Morphology, Specialization, Swimming StylesAbstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the morphological profile that characterizes young Algerian swimmers according to
their swimming style. However, anthropometric measurements and the evaluation of the performance on 50 m for each style
were realized on a sample of 26 male swimmers. The results show that body surface area, height, weight and length of upper
limbs are the most determining variables. The PCA allowed us to reduce the number of biometric variables and to locate the
young swimmers according to their morphological profiles by highlighting (04) groups, displaying favorable predispositions
for each swimming style. This study may have practical implications by allowing us to better manage the process of specialization, orientation and individualization of the training of young swimmers
