The educational system for media and communication sciences in Algeria - a historical and critical reading

The specialty of the information and communication sciences is one of the most important specialties of the human sciences, given the importance of the message that can be made by a journalist in the future, this specialty to benefit from the theoretical and methodological frameworks of social science, psychology and mathematics and other sciences, until it became an autonomous science both in terms of teaching methods, scientific methods and theories or in terms of the basic structures allocated to it. To know the historical roots of this specialty in Algeria, one evokes the period of the French occupation, where it was integrated in the configuration of unofficial media, and it was associated with early periods of the appearance of the written press by French colonialism and then by the Muslim natives. After independence was established for the first time the high school of journalism in 1964, the teaching mechanisms and research tools used were very simple and traditional, and the school complained of a lack of cadres and material means. At the beginning of the seventies, the teaching of information and communication sciences had a serious start, both in terms of the interest of the students of the specialty or in terms of the study program and their content.
