Participatory Democracy: a Media Legal Approach at the Local Level in Algeria

This research paper aims to trace the path of political reforms in their participatory aspect at the local level in Algeria, especially in light of the escalating role of informal actors such as citizens, civil society and the private sector in the decision-making process and its decision-making on the one hand, and to examine the extent of the media’s contribution to the consolidation of the participatory democracy approach, given the Because of its importance and its role in enhancing citizen participation through influencing and directing public opinion through new communication means and applications, and its contribution to promoting the participatory dimension at the local level. Thus, our study seeks to show the role of the media in promoting the participatory approach through two main points: the first is entitled a theoretical and conceptual approach to the participatory democracy approach, and the second is entitled legal and media dedication to embody the principle of participatory democracy in the elected municipal councils
