Abstract
The importance of the media and its link to the issue of national security and security crises has increased in many countries in light of the communications revolution and the emergence of new forms and means of media. However, these new media outlets have transformed in the current era into tools that some use in times of crises in a negative way that may threaten security and social peace, especially with the absence of the application of media security resulting from the absence of a media strategic plan that employs the media in times of security crises. The most common challenges facing media professionals and media and educational institutions together. Therefore, this study seeks to analyze and interpret the academic and media elite trends and their opinions towards the most important strategies for popularizing the concept of media security in times of security crises and its role in managing these crises. The study founds several results, the most important of which is that the activation of media security strategies in times of security crises will enhance the feeling of belonging and citizenship and the preservation of the national identity will ensure the improvement of media performance in accordance with the professional rules of providing news service and correct information, and achieve national security, which preserves the security of the country.
