Following the transformations in Algerian universities after the COVID-19 pandemic, digital media have become essential tools for communication and learning, especially among media and communication students. This study aims to analyze students’ usage patterns, motivations, and the effects of digital communication on academic and social relationships. Using a Survey Method, a questionnaire was administered to a random sample of 187 students at the University of Algiers 3. Results show that social networks and messaging apps are the most used tools, driven by academic, social, and entertainment purposes. While organized use with digital awareness can enhance academic communication, cessive use may hinder academic performance. The study also found differences in usage based on age, gender, and academic level, recommending enhanced digital literacy training
