Abstract
This analytical descriptive study sought to research the characterization of the city in the film, That is, we tried to monitor the main topics raised about the city as a social space and its representations in the movies, By studying the case of the movie "Omar Qatlato Al-Rajla" by Marzak Alwash, and By adopting the method of film analysis; A semiotic approach based primarily on textual analysis. The study concluded that the image of the city in the film varied according to the theoretical orientations, and according to the multiplicity of intellectual backgrounds and their differentiation, Also we found, that the city as a space for "Omar Qatlato Al-Rajla" film's has been revived through the revival of imbalances in different areas (socio-cultural and political) or even the self-imbalance of the main characters reflecting the imbalance collective, the depiction of Marzak Allwash of the urban reality was clearly influenced by the circumstances surrounding the city in the period of The socialist system in the early years of Algerian independence
