The impact of marathonic viewing of cinematic films on digital platforms on the value system of Arab youth: a qualitative study

This study aimed to monitor the impact of marathonic viewing of cinematic films on digital platforms on the value system of Arab youth, by identifying the volume of marathonic viewing, the motives of watching, the extent of its impact on the value system, and the forms of this impact. In addition to trying to reveal the positive and negative values presented through it, and the extent to which the respondents accepted them, and proposing a strategy to confront the negative consequences of marathonic watching of cinematic films on digital platforms. The study was applied to a deliberate sample of Arab youth who watch cinematic films on digital platforms in a marathonic manner. The study, based on focused discussion groups, consists of (64) Arab youth from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, and Algeria. The results of the study indicated that the Netflix platform was at the forefront of the digital platforms through which Arab youth watch cinematic films marathonically, followed by the YouTube Premium platform, and then the Amazon Video Prime platform
