Media Reporting on the Violations of Human Rights in Syria in January 2017 An Analytical Study of BBC Website

Abstract
Through analyzing news and news reports, this study aims to know how the WWW.BBCArabic.com website dealt humanitarian issues in Syria during the year 2017. The study employs the descriptive analytical approach as a method and a tool for its analysis through selecting an irregular random sample; an analysis form was also designed to answer the questions related to the applied part of the study. The study came out with several results: the study - through some news and news reports - exposed the violations that Syrians were subjected to; these violations were represented by killing, siege and displacement. Another finding the study revealed by analyzing the selected news sample is that the the BBC news community failed to adhere to professional standards despite the fact that they covered the violations of Syrian human rights. The study also concluded with several recommendations drawn from its results. One important recommendation is that the (BBC) site must reconsider its professional standards while covering news during wars and crises. Media organizations must establish codes of honor that they adhere to while covering news during wars and crises
