Enhancing Modern Media in Strengthening Cultural Identity in Sudanese Society

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of modern media in promoting cultural identity within Sudanese society, by defining the concept of cultural identity and its fundamental components, as well as identifying the challenges and threats it faces in contemporary digital environments. The study belongs to the field of ethnographic media research, relying on content analysis to examine a sample of television programs in order to understand the lifestyle, traditions, values, arts, and popular heritage that shape Sudanese cultural identity.


The findings indicate that modern media can effectively contribute to preserving cultural identity and promoting awareness of local cultures, while disparities in internet access in rural areas and small towns pose significant barriers to leveraging these media. Accordingly, the study recommends developing digital content in local languages, improving digital infrastructure in remote areas, and facilitating cultural dialogue among different ethnic groups to enhance national unity and mutual understanding among Sudanese cultures and tribes
