Abstract

The article aims to highlight the critical dimension of aesthetic awareness and link it to the context of critical theory and its practices, since it was liberated from the classical aesthetic theory that relied on the analysis of aesthetic taste and judgment; This dimension was determined by the original efforts that linked art with critical social theory, through prominent stations in the history of thedialectic of the relationship between aesthetic theory and social critical theory. These stations are represented in the tireless efforts of Marxist aesthetics by investing Marxist ideas related to its theory of art in its relationship with the forces of society, and the contributions of the Frankfurt School through its theory of social criticism and the involvement of art in the critical process that affected the one-dimensional materialism that characterized the modern capitalist society, and finally the efforts of The sociology of beauty that puts aesthetic theory into question by revealing the historical awareness of aesthetics and its products.
