Image of the Palestinian Resistance on French newspapers websites: A Comparative Analytical Study

Abstract

This study seek to find out the image drawn by the websites of the French newspapers about the Palestinian resistance, it belongs to descriptive studies. The researchers used the media survey method, through which the content analysis, On a sample of the sites Le Monde and Le Figaro during the years 2020-2021. 132 stories were analyzed (60 at Le Monde and 72 at Le Figaro), the study used the agenda setting theory.

The study revealed that the general image drawn by the two sites about the Palestinian resistance tends strongly to the negative by more than half, especially in the Le Monde site, which indicates a clear bias to the Israeli narrative about the resistance, the negative image was concentrated in the two sites in the features of the resistance, the most feature was terrorism. and values, roles, and trends. The topics of armed resistance in the two sites of the study came in a high percentage, the two sites relied on Israeli characters with a clear percentage, followed by international and then Palestinian characters, and the report came at the forefront of journalistic forms with a percentage of 53.8%.
