Challenges in Editing Qualitative Research in Information and Communication Sciences

Abstract

This scientific paper proceeds from the idea that editing qualitative research in media and communication sciences often enjoys expressive freedom in comparison to quantitative research; however, this does not mean at all the ease of qualitative research so much as it means the necessity of caution and attention, considering that we are faced with a complex path of visual and verbal representation of the studied facts and phenomena and the formation of meanings and significations around them. This paper raises an essential problematic that epistemologically revolves around the problems of writing and editing qualitative research in media and communication sciences.

Proceeding from this conception, this research aims to attempt to describe the reality of the academic language circulating in academic scientific discourse through PhD memoranda and theses completed in the local research context, and that through four basic levels; consisting of the linguistic level, the formal/typographic level, the aesthetic and creative level, in addition to the technical level. And on the other hand, it addresses the challenges of academic language in the context of the "digital dilemma" and the increasing uses of generative artificial intelligence tools in the digital environment. This research has arrived at a set of decisive conclusions that are likely to enrich the paths of qualitative research in media and communication sciences in the future, which have been translated research-wise in the form of scientific recommendations for the benefit of researchers, professors, and PhD students
