Abstract

The following research paper study examines the use of theoretical and methodological frameworks in doctoral theses in Information and Communication Sciences at Badji Mokhtar University of Annaba, focusing on dissertations defended between 2022 and 2024. By adopting a descriptive approach and employing content analysis as the main research tool, we analyzed an available sample of these theses and arrived at the following results:

In terms of study design the situation is extremely polarized. One single study design (Descriptive) is used in every single thesis, in terms of data analysis method, the research culture in these doctoral theses is overwhelmingly and exclusively quantitative, in terms of Data collection tools, the data shows a clear and strong trend towards using mixed data collection tools, in terms of the Population Coverage Methods The data reveals a strong preference for non-random sampling methods over probabilistic methods. The use of a census is a stable, secondary approach. The emergence of mixed sampling methods
