Abstract

This study aims to assess Algeria's achievement of financial sustainability during the period 2003-2023 by analyzing key quantitative indicators (public debt-to-GDP ratio, tax gap, budget deficit), in light of public finance trends during the same period, which track global fuel price trends.

The results showed a strong correlation between financial sustainability and oil revenues during the study period, despite some temporary improvements during periods of high oil prices. Achieving lasting financial sustainability requires structural policies to reform state revenues, along with the adoption of precautionary tools to absorb shocks, and strengthening financial management through a prudent and transparent approach.
